What We Do

Programs, Funding & Inspiration

The Feinstein Foundation provides programs, funding, and inspiration to schools and communities throughout Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts & around the globe. Since our founding in 1992, we have focused on encouraging students to practice kindness, generosity, and service to others. Some of our grants have helped schools open in-house food pantries, create clothing closets for families in need, build sensory corners and playgrounds for students with disabilities, and launch peer mentoring programs, just to name a few.

240 Feinstein Leadership Schools & Counting!

The Feinstein Leadership School program currently consists of over 200 schools who share this message with their students and community! Each student receives a Feinstein Jr. Scholar Card, which rewards their commitment with free admission to family-friendly attractions across Southern New England.
Through Feinstein Foundation grants, education support, and kindness initiatives, The Feinstein Foundation empowers children to help make a difference in the lives of others.

In-School Pantry & Caring Closet Program

The Feinstein Jr. Scholar Pantry & Caring Closet Program provides grant funding to Feinstein Leadership Schools to stock and maintain food and other essential items for families in need. These school-based pantries serve as beacons of hope – supporting students, families, and community members while teaching Jr. Scholars the importance of compassion, generosity, and helping one another. Through this program, more than 200 Feinstein Leadership Schools across Southern New England are equipped to make a meaningful difference every day and ensure that no member of their community faces hardship alone.

Kindness Tree Program

The Feinstein Jr. Scholar Kindness Tree Program celebrates the many acts of kindness happening inside Feinstein Leadership Schools. Each tree blossoms with notes recognizing students’ good deeds – big and small – creating a display of kindness that inspires the entire school community. By highlighting moments of compassion, students learn that kindness matters, that their actions have impact, and that together they can help make the world a better place. These trees now stand proudly in schools across Southern New England, growing with every good deed shared.

Spring Grant Program

The Feinstein Foundation’s annual Spring Grant Program gives educators the opportunity to bring meaningful, student-centered projects to life. Leadership Schools submit proposals for initiatives that will benefit their school communities – ranging from enrichment programs to resource expansions and creative learning experiences. Selected schools receive grant support to put their projects into action. This program reflects our belief that educators know their communities best – and that supporting their ideas helps students thrive.
